Foreign Minister Stresses the Need to Respect the Sovereignty of Iraq by All Parties on Sidelines of Munich Security Conference

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Senator Mitt Romney, in the presence of the National Security Adviser and head of the Popular Mobilization Committee, Mr. Faleh Al- Fayyad, where the strategic relations between Baghdad and Washington were discussed, and the importance of developing them to serve the interests of both peoples.

Minister Alhakim stressed the need to respect the sovereignty of Iraq by all parties, and work to support the efforts of Iraq to be a factor of stability in the region, and not to allow the conflict to spread to its territory, or to use it as an arena for conflicts.

Minister Alhakim expressed appreciation for efforts of the US forces and the Global Coalition Forces in defeating Da’esh terrorist organization and liberating the areas it controlled, while stressing the need to follow up the situation of foreign forces in Iraq.

The Minister called for the necessity of distancing Iraq from regional conflicts and the bias policy inorder to achieve internal security that reflects on the security of the whole region.
