Press Statement

Some social media outlets have spread news that the Iraqi Foreign Ministry sold a 2,500-square-meter plot on which our embassy in Washington resides, and instead bought 500 square meters away from the city center.

In this regard, the Ministry denies this news, and confirms that the property of Iraq abroad on which our missions reside remains as it is and without any change, and has not sold any real estate or building of that property, but rather that it is with the Iraqi authorities with jurisdiction to follow up, And coordination to preserve all of Iraq’s property abroad.

The Media Office of the Foreign Ministry calls on all to be correct and accurate in circulating news and receiving it from its official sources in order to preserve the reputation of this ministry, which represents Iraq’s portal  to the outside world, and which strives to take care of the interests of Iraq, and Iraqis residing abroad.
