The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to London Participates in Meetings of IMO General Assembly
Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to London Mr. Mohammed Jaafar Al-Sadr participated in the meetings of the 31st session of the General Assembly of the International Maritime Organization, which was held at the headquarters of the organization in London on 25/11/2019.
At the opening session, the President of the General Assembly, his deputies and the Administrative and Technical Committee were voted on to formulate the Organization’s Platform for Action.
The main mission of the Maritime Organization is to preserve the safety, security and effectiveness of maritime activity and to protect it from pollution and to activate international trade through the development of a comprehensive framework of agreements and policies related to the maritime transport industry and technical cooperation.
Iraq received a program of free technical support from the International Maritime Organization for the development of the maritime sector, and Iraqi ports.
The meeting of the General Assembly of the Maritime Organization is one of the most important meetings held by the Organization every two years; it represents the highest authority in the Organization and consists of all Member States.
