The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in The Hague Receives Delegation of the Union of Dutch Universities VSNU

Iraq’s Ambassador in The Hague, Dr. Hisham Al Alawi received at his office, Dr. Willemijn Dicke, Director of International Strategies at VSNU, and the accompanying delegation, within the framework of maintaining the momentum of work and discussing the next steps to expand bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the higher education sector.

At the beginning of the meeting Ambassador Al-Alawi stressed the importance of sustaining the momentum of work and coordination in order to reach the required goals of building capacity and establishing a knowledge network that will enable Iraqi students and academics to benefit from Dutch expertise in various knowledge sectors, and various Dutch institutions, and visits by Iraqi officials in this area.

On her part, Dr. Dicke stressed the readiness of the Dutch Universities Union to support the efforts of the embassy and contribute to the promotion of bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education, pointing to the nature of the work of its foundation, which dates back to 1985 and oversees 14 Dutch research universities, aimed at formulating common aspirations of universities for the creation of appropriate conditions to make education and research in the university sector stronger.
