The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Moscow Celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of Iraqi-Russian Diplomatic Relations
The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation held on 9/9/2019 a celebration on the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the establishment of Iraqi-Russian diplomatic relations, in the presence of Mr. Moayad Saleh, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry and the envoy of the Russian President for the Middle East and North Africa and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and important Russian political figures.
Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry Mr. Moayed Saleh, spoke about the importance of Iraqi-Russian coordination in many regional issues, noting that this bilateral understanding emerged as a result of the long history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, pointing out that Iraq views Russia as a vital partner, and seeks to sustain this cooperation and develop it in the future.
Ambassador Haidar Mansour Al-Athari inaugurated the ceremony with a speech welcoming the attendees stressing that Iraq is proud of the long history and friendship with Russia, and diplomatic relationship throughout these decades which culminated in signing more than forty agreements and memorandum of understanding, indicating that both countries are now looking forward to increase cooperation in all sectors .
The representative of Russian President Mr. Mikhail Baghdanov delivered a speech on behalf of President Vladimir Putin in which he congratulated the attendees on this occasion, stressing that the Russian leadership supports the Iraqi government in its policy to develop the country and take a pivotal role in the region, and the Russian government wishes to increase bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of awards and certificates of appreciation by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Russian diplomatic figures who previously worked in Iraq and Iraqi s literary and artistic members of the community residing in Russia, in appreciation of their active role in the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
