Iraqi Ambassador in Vienna Meets Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)

Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Austria Mr. Baker Fattah met with Mr. Mohammed Birkondo, Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on a courtesy visit and to congratulate him on the re-election of Mr. Birkondo for another three years in this position.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Organization, where Mr. Birkondo welcomed the Ambassador of Iraq, and stressed the role of Iraq and its positive initiatives for OPEC and its tasks, stressing his keenness to continue cooperation between Iraq and the Organization.

The Ambassador affirmed Iraq’s support to OPEC, especially as Iraq is a founding member of the Organization and an important member, and expressed the desire to work together and cooperate in order to achieve the objectives for which the Organization was found.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to hold regular meetings and discuss issues of common concern
