The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in Riyadh Meets with the Saudi Undersecretary for Consular Affairs
Dr. Qahtan Taha khalaf , the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia met with Mr. Tamim Bin Majid Al-Dossari, Undersecretary of the Saudi Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs. The Ambassador addressed the issue of facilitating the passage of travelers between the two countries at all land, air and sea borders, especially through the opening of Arar border crossing during the month of October 2019, and addressed the subject of Saudi entry visa fees and the importance of reducing the fee in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, as the high cost of the Saudi entry impedes the movement of travelers and trade and thus deprive the huge economic returns that can be achieved by activating the trade process of travel between the two countries.
On his part, the Undersecretary of the Saudi Foreign Minister, stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq and the importance of facilitating the passage of travelers and goods, noting that the fees are currently being reviewed in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.
