The Undersecretary for Legal and Multilateral Affairs Meets Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office
Foreign Ministry Undersecretary of Legal and Multilateral Affairs, Ambassador Hazim Al-Youssifi, met with UN Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism OfficeMr. Vladimir Voronkov on the sidelines of the African Regional Conference on Combating Terrorism and Violent Extremism.
In the presence of Iraqi Ambassador to Nairobi Ambassasdor Burhan Namik Aljaff Mr. Vladimir welcomed the Undersecretary of the Ministry and expressed his appreciation for his attending of this important conference, which will be followed by several other regional conferences to counter terrorism in the world. On his part, the Undersecretary stressed that Iraq with the efforts of its people and their great sacrifices and with help the Global coalition was able to defeat terrorism, stressing the need for the United Nations to help the Iraqi government and pointed to the need to establish an international information base for the exchange of intelligence between countries to counter terrorism and limit its expansion.
He also stressed that the Foreign Ministry welcomed the work of the investigating team of crimes of Daesh in Iraq headed by Mr. Karim Khan and that it is ready to provide all facilities to his team. The Assistant Secretary-General stressed the continued cooperation with the Iraqi government in this area.
