The Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of Republic of Iraq in Colombo Meets the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka

The Chargé d’affairs to the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Colombo  Mr. Qutaiba Subhi Ahmed met with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa within the delegation of the Council of Arab Ambassadors.

In his speech at the meeting, the Chargé d’Affaires pointed out the historical depth of the bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the aspiration for more constructive cooperation at all levels, the importance of resuming the Iraqi-Sri Lankan joint committee meetings, as well as signing the draft agreements and memorandums of understanding that are not complete.  Mr. Mahinda stated that Iraq is one of the strongest importers of Sri Lankan products, especially Ceylon tea since the 1970s, and there is a great commercial dealing between the two countries.
