The Permanent Representative of Iraq in Geneva meets with the Director of the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP)

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Ambassador Hussein Mahmoud Al-Khateeb met with the Director of the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP), Ambassador Christian Dussey in his office on 9/8/2019.

During the meeting, discussions included the Center’s activities in the field of training and capacity building in various aspects related to security policies, especially international and regional security, including in the Middle East.

The Permanent Representative stressed Iraq’s need to obtain an increased number of participatory opportunities in the Center’s activities, including specialized courses for Iraqi participants to enhance their knowledge and capacity-building. The Permanent Representative underscored the sacrifices of the Iraqi people in fighting terrorism on behalf of the world and Iraq’s neutral positions and positive role as a mediator in easing tensions in the region that requires support of the international community to Iraq. The Permanent Representative praised the role of the Center in providing scholarships for Iraqi participants in the fellowships and training courses run by the GCSP.
