Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Rome Holds a Commemorative Ceremony Marking the Fifth Anniversary of Yazidis Genocide

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Rome held a ceremony on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the genocide that took place against the Yazidis in the Sinjar area, in the presence of Italian Deputy of Foreign Ministry and International Cooperation Mr. Emmanuelle del Rey.

Ambassador Ahmed Bamrani delivered a speech on the occasion, in which he recalled the atrocities committed against Yazidies on the hands of Daesh terrorist gangs in a way that is similar to the history witnessed in the crime of genocide committed against the Kurds. The ambassador referred to the crimes of Da’esh  by selling Yazidis and exposing  women and children to murder, torture and using the worst means to abuse them.

The Ambassador praised the efforts of the international coalition, including Italy, to assist Iraq in its war against Da’esh terrorist gangs and its defeat. Mrs. Emmanuelle del Rey spoke on the occasion, recalling the beautiful moments she had experienced with the Yazidis before the arrival of Daesh terrorist to their areas, as well as the painful moments she witnessed after the arrival of the terrorist gangs and the crimes committed against them. She praised the efforts of the Iraqi army in defeating terrorist and warned against Daesh despite military defeat. Ms. Del Rey said that cooperation with Iraq would be a priority for her and that she was pursuing the matter as Deputy Foreign Minister.
