Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations Mr. Hazim Al-Yousifi chaired the meeting with representatives of the Foreign, Defense and Health Ministries of Iraq  with a delegation coming from Kuwait to discuss the files of the missing Kuwaiti and Amiri and Kuwaiti archives

The Undersecretary for legal affairs and multilateral relations explained that the results of the drilling of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Baghdad in Muthanna governorate on 6/3/2019, resulted in the discovery remains of individuals believed to belong to missing Kuwaitis.

He explained in a statement to the Iraqi and Arab media during the meetings of the Technical Subcommittee (109th) and the 48th Committee of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Amman) for the period 29-31 /7/2019 which are concerned in tracing of Iraqi, Kuwaiti and other nationalities as a result of the Second Gulf War.  The preliminary results of the genetic analysis conducted in the Department of Forensic Medicine in Baghdad believe that thirty-two of the individuals give positive indicators when compared with the database of Kuwaiti prisoners.

He announced the readiness of a new batch of Kuwaiti archives containing Kuwaiti books expected to be delivered to the State of Kuwait after the Eid al-Adha, pointing out that these positive developments that have occurred in the outstanding issues with the sisterly state of Kuwait are clear evidence of Iraq’s serious and sincere intention to resolve these files and the insistence of the Iraqi government and people to erase all traces of Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
