Iraqi Charge d’affaires in Damascus Meets Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) of Syrian Arab Republic

Iraq’s Chargé d’affaires a.i in Damascus Mr. Naseer Al-azzawi met with the Syrian Minister of Endowment (Awqaf) Mr. Mohamed Abdel Sattar El Sayed in the Ministry building upon his request. After exchanging greetings and courtesy, the two sides discussed the historic bilateral relations between the two peoples and brotherly countries.

   The Chargé d’affaires a.i presented a copy of the national strategy of the Republic of Iraq to combat the extremist ideology leading to violence and exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries in this field.

In May, Syria opened the Sham Institute to confront terrorism and extremism to rehabilitate imams and preachers, rewrite school curricula and prepare plans for the treatment and rehabilitation of communities that were under the control of terrorist groups. The Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) expressed his readiness to cooperate with the Iraqi authorities and exchange experiences with Iraq.

 At the end of the meeting, the Chargé d’affaires a.i expressed his thanks and gratitude for the good reception and hospitality, and called for more cooperation and coordination between the two countries and visits to ensure the interests of both countries and peoples.
