Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in The Hague Visits the Nuffic Dutch Foundation for Internationalization of Education

In order to invest opportunities after the announcement of the Dutch Foundation for the Internationalization of Education to include Iraq in the Dutch Orange Knowledge Programs, Ambassador Hisham Al-Alawi met on Monday 22/7/2019 with Mr. David van Kampen, Director of International Development Projects and Ms. Maaike de Loor, official responsible for the file of Iraq in the mentioned institution.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Alawi appreciated the practical steps taken by the Nuffic Foundation, which provided the ground for the Dutch government to announce its decision to include Iraq in the Dutch knowledge programs at the end of June. This will contribute to providing opportunities to benefit from the experience of the Dutch side to achieve economic development and improve the capabilities of Iraqi staff in the development of the sectors of agriculture, water management and higher education, stressing the importance of working to expand the scope of cooperation in the field of higher education to include all humanities, medical, engineering and technical sectors within the framework of general cooperation and to provide fellowships for master’s and doctoral students, organize academic visits, conduct joint research and develop curricula.

On his part, Mr. David van Kampen expressed his pleasure and optimism for the success of the conference “Agriculture and Water in Iraq” organized by the Embassy in cooperation with the University of Wageningen on 19/6/2019, in the presence of a high-level attendance, indicating his organization’s readiness to work with the Embassy to prepare a work plan to accommodate the ideas and common visions, which will contribute to the enhancement of bilateral cooperation with the Iraqi side in the field of higher education.
