The Permanent Representative of Iraq in Geneva Delivers Statement of Iraq in General Debate on Situation of Human Rights in Occupied territories

Ambassador Dr.  Hussein Al-Khatib, Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations Office at Geneva, presented Iraq’s statement during the general debate under item VII of the 41st Session of the Human Rights Council on 8/7/2019, in which he affirmed Iraq’s historic position in solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people for their rights Including the right to self-determination, the right of return and the right to establish a Palestinian State with Alquds as its capital.

  The statement referred to the tragic situation of the brotherly Palestinian people, expressing regret for the inability of the international community to put an end to this continuing suffering and to compel the occupation authorities to abide by the relevant international resolutions, to hold violators accountable and to ensure all remedies for victims and their families and the legal status of the occupied territories, the rejection of de facto policies in an attempt to change the legal situation in the occupied territories and the transfer of certain embassies to Alquds is a violation of Security Council resolutions, including resolution 478, settlement policies and attempts by the occupation authorities  to change the reality of urban, cultural and demography  in Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan and Lebanese Shebaa Farms.
