Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim Concludes his High-level Government Delegation Visit to Ankara

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim concluded his high-level government delegation visit to Ankara with both the Defense Minister and the Head of the Intelligence Service after the military coordination meeting was held with his counterparts from the Turkish side.

The two sides discussed the security issue, the importance of prioritizing the work to establish security and the promotion of relations in accordance with the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

The two sides agreed to implement the outcomes of this meeting, continue holding meetings, and to hold the next meeting in Baghdad.

This meeting is of great importance to both sides, because of the importance of the topics they discussed and the priorities it requires for concerted efforts and cooperation. The meeting was characterized by an atmosphere of understanding and openness, which has a great impact on improving bilateral relations and moving to wider prospects for the well being of the two friendly peoples.

After the meeting, Minister Al-Hakim met with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan and discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Ankara, expressing the aspiration of the Iraqi government to promote them to achieve common interests, especially with the political will of both countries to strengthen and achieve development and prosperity desired by all.

Minister Alhakim concluded his visit by meeting the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, stressing the need to activate the Iraqi-Turkish relations and the importance of exerting more efforts to provide services and facilities and overcome obstacles facing the Iraqi community.
