Foreign Minister Meets Chairperson and Members of Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence in the Norwegian Parliament

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mrs. Anniken Huitfeld Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, in addition to committee members and various parties. The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and the priorities of the Iraqi parliament and government in the coming stage. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern, especially Norway’s efforts within the international coalition to defeat Da’esh and support the Iraqi forces and train them.
Minister Alhakim stressed the determination of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and the new government cabinet to move the economic wheel in the country and provide employment opportunities for young people and find common political platforms within a stable regional environment. In this regard, Minister Alhakim reviewed the vision of Iraq on various aspects of cooperation with Norway and at the levels.
On her part, Mrs. Anniken Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence in the Norwegian Parliament, expressed her hope that this visit will be a starting point in the bilateral relations, stressing the importance of building on them and investing them to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
