Foreign Minister Meets Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus on the Margins of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York


Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with Cypriot Foreign Minister Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis on the margins of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Nicosia and means of upgrading them to a level that meets the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

Dr. Jaafari explained that: Iraq has achieved great achievements, and faced a global threat represented by Daesh terrorist gangs , and was able to eliminate them thanks to unity and help  of friendly countries, looking forward to the continued support of the international community for Iraq in the reconstruction of Iraqi cities, noting that the designation of Ambassador of Cyprus in the past period  is indicative of the development of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Nicosia, calling for the activation of the agreements signed between the two countries.

On his part, the Cypriot Foreign Minister Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis stressed the keenness of his country to strengthen cooperation with Iraq in all fields, revealing his plan to visit Iraq soon with several Cypriot businessmen; to discuss increasing the volume of investment between the two countries, indicating that he will discuss with his country officials to build a hospital in Iraq in the context of deepening relations and opening new horizons for joint action between Iraq and Cyprus.
