Foreign Minister Meets Norwegian Counterpart on Sidelines of 73rd Session of United Nations General Assembly in New York


Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Ms. Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, and discussed the most important issues of mutual concern between Iraq and Norway.

Dr. Al-Jaafari praised Norway's support for Iraq. "I would like to thank Norway for its contribution in supporting Iraq in its war against Daesh terrorist gangs," calling for intensified efforts to hold the Iraq-Norway Joint Committee meeting for its importance in opening common cooperation.

Dr. Al-Jaafari stated "We seek to exchange experiences, activate common interests, face common risks and the contribution of Norwegian companies in the reconstruction of Iraqi cities".

On her part, Ms. Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide stressed the continued support of her country to Iraq in various fields, pointing to the courage of Iraqis in the elimination of Daesh terrorist gangs and the high professionalism of the Iraqi armed forces and revealed that the Prime Minister of Norway will visit Iraq in the next phase in the framework of the development of relations between the two countries.
